How Xibernetix works

A security service built around the person and the protected item.

Xibernetix combines physical components, protected installation, and verified identity for Device Control and Brand Verification. Makers prepare their products and devices; operators and consumers use the Xibernetix mobile app to authenticate NFC tags and follow the relevant service flow.

The technology layer

Two ways to connect the physical world to a verified identity.

Each deployment begins with the technology that suits the protected item, environment, and experience you need. NFC tags support Device Control and Brand Verification; Bluetooth provides a connection option for compatible devices.

NFC tags

Tap to identify

An NFC tag gives a protected item a physical identity at close range. It can be built into or attached to a garment, jewelry item, handbag, packaged product, medical device, lockbox, or equipment so an operator or consumer uses a deliberate tap to begin the service flow.

  • Simple, intentional interaction
  • Suitable for labels, cases, packaging, tools, and fixed equipment
  • Can support protected tag provisioning
Bluetooth peripherals

Stay aware nearby

Bluetooth peripherals add nearby-item context when a hands-free or continuous connection makes more sense than a tap. They help connect the owner, mobile device, and protected product, asset, or device during use.

  • Useful for proximity-based workflows
  • Supports a more natural device experience
  • Selected for the installation environment
Device Control owner verification

Confirm the person

Passkey-based sign-in verifies the intended owner before an action is approved. The NFC or Bluetooth signal identifies the protected item; the owner verification confirms who is trying to use it.

  • Item identity and user identity stay separate
  • Access decisions can be recorded
  • Recovery and reassignment follow a controlled process
NFC tag use

One NFC process for Device Control and Brand Verification.

Both services start with a Maker account, registered NFC tags, and authentication through the Xibernetix mobile app. The service determines what happens after the tag is authenticated.

  1. Join Xibernetix as a Maker

Sign up at xibernetix.com as a Maker to get started with Device Control, Brand Verification, or both.

  2. Register your brand or device

For Brand Verification, enter your brand name and website. For Device Control, register the device and assign its operator.

  3. Choose a recommended NFC tag

Use our recommendation to select an ISO-DEP Type 4 NFC tag, including supported NTAG 424 DNA or MIFARE DESFire EV3 workflows. We validate the specification and form factor for your product's materials, packaging, and installation environment.

  4. Register and integrate your NFC tags

Import the tag manifest and associate the tags with your brand or device. Qualify the placement and reading performance, then integrate the tags during assembly, sewing, labeling, or packaging as appropriate to your production process.

  5. Tap to authenticate in the app

The operator or consumer opens the Xibernetix mobile app, signs in, and taps the NFC tag. The app and backend authenticate the tag through the registered service flow.

Device Control

Authorize the device's protected action

The integration uses the authenticated tag, operator identity, and device assignment to decide whether the requested action is allowed. A combined NFC + Bluetooth setup also uses the device's Bluetooth context.

Brand Verification

Verify authenticity and show the brand's website

The app authenticates the brand's registered NFC tag and shows the brand's website. The brand can use that site to share provenance documents, craftsmanship stories, care information, or exclusive experiences.

Protection options

Protecting Your High-Value Goods

The NFC or Bluetooth component is only one part of a secure deployment. We plan how the protected item and its security components are housed, mounted, powered, and serviced to fit the item, its use, and its environment.

Hardware & Devices

Electronic, mechanical, or hybrid

Electronic controls focus on the protected item's signals and behavior: authenticated communication, protected configuration, tamper-aware monitoring where supported, and lifecycle controls. A mechanical enclosure or hybrid installation adds physical protection when the item needs it.

Luxury & Apparel

Watches, jewelry, and handbags

Choose an embedded or attached secure NFC tag suited to the product's materials and design. Consumers tap it in the app to authenticate the registered identity and view the brand's website.

Premium Consumables

Fine wine and spirits

Integrate a registered NFC tag into premium packaging so consumers can authenticate it and view the brand's website. Validate placement and reading performance with the finished packaging before production rollout.

Device Control: owner dedication

Each protected item is assigned with a purpose.

During enrollment, the product, asset, or device is associated with its intended owner and approved use. When the item is presented later, Xibernetix checks its identity and the owner's verification before allowing the associated action.

This creates a clear boundary: a protected item is not a shared, anonymous object. If it is lost, transferred, repaired, or needs a new owner, the assignment can be disabled or changed through an authorized lifecycle process.

Device Control lifecycle

Ten steps from Product Brand setup to protected use.

The detailed NFC manufacturing flow is available in Product Brand Onboarding. This Device Control overview shows how a Product Brand and an Owner or Operator use an NFC, Bluetooth, or combined deployment from the first record through day-to-day operation.

  1. 1

    Product Brand creates an account

The Product Brand signs up with Xibernetix and registers the product, asset, or device it wants to protect.

  2. 2

    Choose the connection method

The Product Brand selects NFC tags, Bluetooth peripherals, or both based on the item and the intended owner experience.

  3. 3

    Import the component inventory

For NFC deployments, the Product Brand uploads the NFC Tag Manufacturer’s manifest to the Xibernetix backend. The imported records identify the components that will be assigned to finished items.

  4. 4

Build the components into the item

The NFC tag, Bluetooth peripheral, or both are installed or enclosed in the finished product, asset, or device.

  5. 5

    Distribute the finished item

The Product Brand ships, sells, or otherwise provides the protected item to its buyer.

  6. 6

    Owner installs the Xibernetix app

The buyer downloads the Xibernetix app for Android or iOS and signs in, or creates an account if they do not already have one.

  7. 7

Owner presents the phone to the item

The signed-in Owner or Operator taps their mobile device to an NFC-enabled item or initiates the supported Bluetooth connection.

  8. 8

    Xibernetix provisions the first owner

The app and backend complete the authenticated provisioning flow, binding the protected item to the signed-in Owner or Operator. Internet connectivity is required for this first pairing.

  9. 9

Authenticate to use a protected function

For a later use, the Owner or Operator taps or connects again. Xibernetix verifies the item and signed-in person, then authorizes the protected function for the Product Brand’s configured use period.

  10. 10

The item returns to its protected state

After the configured period of inactivity, the Product Brand’s integration can return the item to its locked or otherwise protected state until the next successful authentication. Supported later operations can work temporarily offline, but periodic connectivity is required to synchronize lifecycle changes and keep ownership assignments current.
